(Business) Relationship Advice |

We’ve all seen those commercials “Parents, the Anti-Drug.” Captivating and creative they hit us like a Tyson punch (or a bite in the ear for that matter) with one simple message; talk to your kids. Like I said, simple right? I suspect many parents who do not spend time with their children do not intentionally avoid them. In fact, they probably are well intentioned and work hard to be providers. We may inadvertently neglect our loved ones, and we know first hand how difficult it can be.
While this is not an article on parenting, it hopefully evokes strong emotions and a parallel to loving and nurturing our best client relationships. At the end of the day we are all human. We do business with those who we like and trust. Sometimes we are so busy chasing new business we forget about our clients. Consider this relationship advice from a father to a son and draw your own business applications:
- Take her flowers and gifts
- Communicate
- Call her and tell her you love her
- Ask what she wants
- Take her out
- Give her your best, not the leftovers
- Leave her notes
- Be responsive to her needs
- Go out of your way to show appreciation
I’m not much of a match maker but I hope these lighthearted analogies can help you retain your clients. Jeff Tintle, Jr. is president of THRIVE Media and can help you get your clients to share the love and create buzz about your business. Call him for client relationship advice at 610-762-9011 or
